ESRI has been pushing its hosted ArcGIS Online for organizations platform for at least a couple of years. It provides a convenient way to make maps and applications available to a variety of different users with different needs, while managing the resources centrally. DAS at the State of Oregon has entered into an agreement with ESRI where they will provide seats to qualifying organizations at zero cost as long as they contribute updated Framework data for distribution. Still, free is never free and we will explore what it takes to migrate an organization to the ESRI cloud. One of the limitations of the State offering is the inability to access your own data unless you wish to incur hosting charges. To mitigate this limitation, we show the ease of creating web map services without ArcGIS Server that can be used in AGOL web maps and applications … and the Web AppBuilder makes the creations of these applications relatively painless and viewable on most devices. We conclude with a brief demo of this tool and its capabilities in customizing an extensive array of application templates.
We will make sure there is a little time for catching up and general conversation before the last presentation…. come with lots of questions. The format is pretty open and casual.
