The theme is Spatial Data is Infrastructure to highlight the relevance that GIS has in influencing the physical and social structure of our environment. The goal of the program in correlation with the theme is to inform each other about ways that functioning cities, facilities, and services are heavily reliant on geospatial technology. GIS serves to solve issues in sustainable development, helps to systematically create a more equitable space, and efficiently builds solutions for rapid urban sprawl, resource organization, and emergency management. Spatial data science technologies are improving our past, present, and future infrastructures to help our society run smoothly.
The PSU Zoom links will be in the session details on Sched (also accessible from the conference website). Each session has a specific Zoom meeting link that will be active during the scheduled time.
If you are asked to sign in to start the meeting, look on the bottom of the page and click on the text that says, “Join Meeting as an Attendee” (see image below with text circled in red).

Like in-person conferences, the virtual ballroom is open all day for attendees to network. The plenaries will be held in these rooms. Each day of the conference, the ballroom will be an individual Zoom link. When the plenaries are not active, attendees can talk to anyone who is in the Zoom meeting, request a breakout room from the host, or send text messages to everyone or individuals.
The plenary is a session for all attendees and there will be no other meetings during these times. Each plenary will include information about the conference and on Monday and Wednesday there are keynote presentations. We will learn about the conference sponsors in short presentations. At the end of the plenaries will be sponsor quizzes, and the attendee who answers the most correctly wins a prize!
There are three plenary sessions:
1) Monday, April 18th at 8:00 AM to 9:50 AM – Opening feat. keynote by Dr. Este Geraghty
2) Wednesday, April 20th at 8:00 AM to 9:50 PM – feat. keynote by Mike Harryman
3) Thursday, April 21st at 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM – Closing feat. contest winners
Sessions are categorized into seven tracks that are scheduled so that all sessions in a track are at different times on the same day. Additionally, there are longer technical sessions after lunch. We will kick off the week with presentations on 1) Public Services and 2) Remote Sensing. Tuesday will be dedicated to two tracks: 3) Technical and 4) Emergency Management. Wednesday has sessions on the topics of 5) Resilience and 6) Professional Development. The conference will conclude on Thursday with a day full of presentations related to 7) Sustainable Urban Planning.
View maps submitted to the Map Gallery by fellow attendees and VOTE for your favorites. On Tuesday at 1:00 PM there is a Map Gallery Showcase for the authors to talk about their maps. Winners will be announced in the closing plenary.
You are invited to an in-person social event following the conference at Mt. Tabor Park in Portland, OR. Join us from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Picnic Area A for food, refreshments, and networking: SE 60th Ave &, SE Salmon St, Portland, OR 97215. This event is sponsored by Vestra. Please RSVP.
