The Central Coast GIS Users Group (http://www.orurisa.org/ccgisug) invites you to the 2014 Symposium by the Sea - Mobile GIS on Friday September 19th at the Oregon Coast Community College in Newport, OR from 9-4. Register HERE: http://ccgisug2014mobile.eventbrite.com
We have a host of presenters from different government agencies and companies speaking about the variety of different applications and services using mobile GIS. Whether you’re mapping a telephone pole or a school of fish, there are many aspects to consider when working with GIS away from your desktop. This all-day symposium will introduce participants to some basics of GPS and field data collection, follow the path your data takes through integration with other data sets, verification, and taking data back into the field with you, along with some tips and tricks for all the steps in between.
We hope to demonstrate some of the various methods and tools of mobile GIS and how you can leverage them for your own work. More details, including a draft program, are available on the symposium website.
Lunch and snacks are included in the registration fee ($20). If this registration fee is difficult for you, please contact us for alternate options.
Also, please forward this link to anyone you think may be interested; this symposium is open to all interested.
Even if you can't make the symposium, please be sure to join us afterwards (~4:30pm) for pints and dining (Rogue Brewery - Brewer's on the Bay, 2320 SE OSU Drive Newport, OR 97365)! Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
